Many musicologists as well as theorists study a sketchbooks of deceased composers in efforts to determine how masterpieces or compositional styles were developed. Jonathan Coulton reveals a Web 2.0 version of sketchbooks, by posting a pre-songs of 5 of his hits, along with explanations of his thought processes for any of a pieces. I envision doctoral programs of a destiny requiring interpretation mining in a coursework, just as past programs have compulsory learning how to hoop old vellum as well as handwriting analysis.
